Bab Trabolous

Tripoli, Libya

Zumurrud at Bab Trabolous, or “Emerald at Tripoli,” is the first contemporary master-planned community in Libya. It will rise along the freeway between Tripoli International Airport and downtown Tripoli, offering an all-in-one destination for living, working, shopping and relaxing in style and comfort. A multi-block mixed-use project inspired by California’s casual indoor-outdoor lifestyle, it will boast residential and office towers, a hotel and a retail destination filled with internationally known retail stores, restaurants, recreational venues and much more.

5+design created Zumurrud to take advantage of its convenient location and desert backdrop. There are two major plazas: One, facing the freeway near the hotel, office towers and hypermarket, will serve as the main gateway entrance to the development. The other, set farther back near the tiered residential units, will invite locals and visitors to gather amid peaceful water features and native landscaping. Designed to be modern inside and out, with streamlined updates on the arches, columns and latticework of traditional Arabic architecture, Zumurrud is sure to become a model for the Libya of tomorrow.
